Prominent or asymmetric ears are often a source of childhood teasing or personal dissatisfaction. Otoplasty can be performed to either “pin” back the prominent ear or improve the contour of misshapen ears.
Otoplasty is performed in the surgical suite at Lone Tree Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center under “twilight” anesthesia and requires up to two hours. A small incision is hidden on the back side of the ear. Some skin is removed and sutures are used to reshape the cartilage of the ear to achieve an aesthetically pleasing shape. Dissolving sutures are used to close the incision and no suture removal is required following surgery.
If you have additional questions, we are always available at Lone Tree Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center.
